  2. Such is the cost of not having building codes and code enforcement - in a people w/o the built-in desire to ‘do the right thing’, even when it ‘costs’ more. And unfortunately, that pretty much applies around here too. :-/

    1. You have no clue what it's like in a Brazilian slum. Your precious building codes do not even begin to address the problems there. Enforcing building codes (and, yes, they have those) would be like enforcing littering during the Syrian civil war.
